Coronavirus (COVID-19) NCAAB Update – Jan. 25th Edition

As we have seen many times this season, the COVID-19 pandemic affects everyone. The state of Michigan has been hit particularly hard over the last few weeks. A couple of weeks ago, players within the Michigan State program tested positive for the coronavirus. After numerous positive tests, the Spartans are hoping to get back out on the floor this Thursday against Rutgers. With that in mind. let’s take a closer look at the latest news out there so you can continue betting against their College Basketball odds.

NCAA Basketball COVID-19 Update – January 25th Edition

This past weekend, it was announced that numerous athletes within the University of Michigan athletic program tested positive for the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19. This is a new variant that transmits more easily. Due to these positive test results, the University of Michigan suspended all athletic activities for two weeks. This will cause the Wolverines to miss at least their next four upcoming games.

Now onto teams that are in action on Tuesday night. We’ll see a total of six ranked teams hit the court on Tuesday night. Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, Saint Louis and Connecticut will all hit the floor on Tuesday evening. It looks like we’ll be seeing a ton of good action from the SEC, a conference more known for football than basketball.

The 5th-ranked Longhorns will host the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas will be well-rested, as they didn’t get to play last week due to their opponents having COVID issues. They’ll welcome Oklahoma, a team who is coming off of an upset win over Kansas. This one will start a touch stretch for the Longhorns, as after they face Oklahoma, they’ll travel to Kentucky on Saturday for the Big-12 SEC Challenge. They’ll then return home to face the Baylor Bears next Tuesday.

The struggling Tennessee Volunteers will host Mississippi State. The Vols started off the season 10-1, but have now been crushed in their last two games against Florida and Missouri. Tennessee has been without star freshman guard Jaden Springer over their last two games. Springer has been a huge factor in their success this season. If they can get him back, the Vols could be back in business.

The Tide is rollin’! Nate Oats’ squad is shooting the lights out from beyond the arc. If the Tide continue to shoot well, they’ll be a headache for anyone they face. They spread the floor well, and cause matchup issues with their small lineups. They’ll be facing a Kentucky squad that looks lost. John Calipari’s group has had a rough season. The last time these two met, Alabama’s small lineup dominated the bigger, slower group that Coach Cal put out on the floor. We’ll see if Calipari makes some changes the second time around.

Cuonzo Martin has his Missouri Tigers climbing up the rankings. After they hit a tough spell, the Tigers have rebounded well, dominating Tennessee in their matchup last week. They’ve played one of the toughest schedules in the country to date. They’ll face an Auburn team that is young, but has the ability to put up some points. Missouri the top defensive team in the SEC, so they’ll be prepped and ready for Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers.
