- Elche are without a win in their last 15 La Liga matches, losing seven.
- The visitors have picked up just one point in their last four away trips.
- Celta are themselves without a win in six, however they returned to form with a fine 2-2 draw away to leaders Atletico Madrid on Monday night.
Celta to Build on Fine Draw at Wanda
After their superb display in a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid on Monday evening, Celta Vigo are taken to end their six-match winless run this Friday night when they entertain second bottom Elche at Balaidos.
Celestes turned in arguably their best performance of the campaign at Wanda Metropolitano and fully deserved to snatch a point from the league leaders late in the piece thanks to Facundo Ferreyra’s 89th minute goal.
While Celta’s overall results of late have been poor with three draws and three defeats suffered in their last six outings, Eduardo Coudet’s side could be primed to turn the corner again now and it’s important to call out that they have only lost one of their last half dozen starts at Balaidos, winning four.
And the visit of Elche undoubtedly presents Celestes with a fine opportunity to regain the winning thread. Jorge Almiron’s charges are clearly the worst form horse in La Liga after a miserable stretch of 15 games without a victory (D8, L7) and they have claimed just a single point from their last four matches on the road.
We really fancy the hosts to bag an overdue success in Galicia this Friday night, although the 3/1 about a Celta win and both teams to score is far more appealing than simply backing the home side in the match betting.
Celta have conceded in seven of their last eight La Liga games, and with Elche netting in six of their last nine and in six of their nine away trips this season, there’s every chance that those odds can be landed.
On top of our main prediction, we’re also forecasting a 3-1 correct score as the likes of Ferreyra, Aspas and Santi Mina should get plenty of chances against an Elche backline that’s shipped twice or more in four of their last five games.
